Cvijeta Pavlović and Ana Šverko participated in the international conference entitled Rewriting, diversity and cultural interference – the Slavic Tower of Babel. Translations, interactions and mutual influences. The conference was held in Poznań, Poland, from October 26 to 28 as part of the Slavic Tower of Babel festival. The paper they gave, entitled Mediating Croatian antiquity: from global to local and back, focused on travelogues about Dalmatia. The authors proposed that travel writers’ texts, just like drawings, convey much more than their ostensible subjects. A search for accidental transmitters of knowledge present in these works can enable us to study the spirit of place of the cities and towns that were recorded.
