The timeline refers to the temporal scope of the database (1700-1914) and the map contains places visited by authors inside this timeframe.
The database can be searched by author, place, year, or by regular expression. Searches can be further refined by choosing one or more types of record (such as book, image, image in the book, and/or photography). The results of the search will show up on the map and the timeline.
Alternatively, results can be viewed as a list or thumbnails, either in alphabetical or chronological order.
By selecting a specific entry, the basic information on the record is provided.
Every entry contains links (in the bottom right corner) to works by the same author, those referring to the same place, or those dating from the same period.
